Rhino: Wake Up Africa

×

Under a blazing sun in an endless sky, the dusty plains of Africa teem with wildlife fighting for survival. Hippos, lions, giraffes, elephants, and other animals coexist in the never-ending and tumultuous circle of life. Each beast greets the new dawn, grateful they have survived the night and hopeful for a fresh new day. Among the beasts fighting hardest for survival is the rhino, a formidable animal respected by the people of Africa and a beast that is waking the world up to the plight of Africa in a cruel and unjust world.

Rhino: Hugely Protective

As dawn breaks, a rhino stands on its feet, looks up, and greets the sun. Almost three tonnes of pure muscle, brute force, and total aggression, the rhino fights not just for its own survival from its very first breath, but the survival of its species. Up against the evil humans known as poachers on one side, a cruel battle that has brought a species to the verge of extinction rages. On the other hand, it is fighting to protect its young and own kind from the everyday trials of Africa itself. Born out of a hugely protective nature, rhinos are aggressive beasts when provoked but gentle giants when left alone.

Habitat Destroyed

Once, Africa was an open expanse of savanna, forest, and wetland. Here, the wildlife in the cradle of mankind ruled supreme, living in relative harmony with the seasons of the year. Rhinos lived peacefully and unthreatened, hunted only by the brave few. The joys of hunting rhino for its meat and skin are depicted in cave paintings, as is man's respect and fear for this massively aggressive beast. Yet, prehistoric hunting by man would never take the animal to the point of extinction; it would be the evolution of man and the redevelopment of the habitat that would see the demise of a truly majestic, loving, caring beast with a temper.
